Wednesday, March 26 - 6 PM
Cincinnati Bar Association, 225 E. Sixth Street:
Join us for a panel of judges, attorneys and media -- talking about our pet peeves in an off-the-cuff and off-the-record conversation. Here's your chance to meet people you cover. Issues on the table:
Do the media always prefer sensationalism to substance?
Do criminal defense attorneys and prosecutors attempt to try their cases in the press?
Do judges unduly restrict access to information the public has a right to know?
Judges will include the Hon. Michael R. Barrett, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio; the Hon. Robert P. Ringland, Clermont County, Court of Common Pleas; and the Hon. Jeffery E. Froelich, Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas.
We invite you to join us and other representatives of the bench, bar, and media to discuss these and other issues on Wednesday, March 26th, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., at the Cincinnati Bar Association, 225 E. 6th Street. Refreshments will be served from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
This forum is an informal and robust dialogue among the people who participate in our criminal and civil justice system. We are confident that we will be able to have a totally off-the-record discussion of what we all do every day, why it is important, and what we can do better. Hopefully, we also can begin the process of appreciating each other’s perspectives and fostering a relationship of professionalism and mutual respect.
Please RSVP to Julie Kemble Borths at the CBA (at jkborths@cincybar.org –with subject line: media forum or at 513-699-1391) on or before Friday, March 21, 2008.
