Membership Update

The national board and membership of the Society passed a resolution at the annual 2007 convention to extend half-priced young professional membership fees from the first two years after graduation to the first THREE years. This should help newcomers to the business as they gear up financially.

Membership Information

The eligibility criteria are broad in the number of persons who will qualify under them, but narrow in making it clear the Society is dedicated to professionalism and the purely editorial function of the profession.

Professional: Must be principally engaged in the above activities at the time of selection. (Rule of thumb: More than 50% of his or her working hours.)

Retired: Former Professional members who have retired from active journalism.

Student: a) Must be a college or university student in good academic standing, b) Must be a journalism student or must show an interest in the above activities, c) Student members may ue membership after graduation as post-graduate members for up to 2 years or upon entering the work force.

Household is limited to one of two professional members currently living at the same address.
