AND THE WINNER IS….
As some of you may know, Felix Winternitz recently resigned as vice president of the Chapter. In February, Aiesha Little became the new vice president. The following are some questions to help you get to know the new VP.
Q: When did you join SPJ?
A: I've been a member of SPJ since 1998, 10 years this July
Q: Why did you join?
A: I thought SPJ would help me network with other journalists and full-time working professionals. However, I didn't really put the membership to use on a local level until last year when I joined the board.
Q: Where do you work?
A: I'm an associate editor and the editorial internship coordinator for Cincinnati Magazine
Q: Where did you graduate from college?
A: Central Michigan University
Q: Why did you run for SPJ Vice President?
A: I was impressed with the changes that Hagit was making within the chapter and after Felix announced his resignation, I stepped up to keep us on the right track.
Q: What is you vision for SPJ?
A: I see SPJ as an inclusive organization where journalists and would-be journalists can learn the ropes of the business.
Q: What is one thing you want other members to know about you?
A: I LOVE what I do. Couldn't see myself doing anything else.
A NOTE FROM THE SECRETARY
By Joshua Rinaldi
Bylaws were the big topic of discussion at March’s board meeting. Monica Dias, a board member an attorney with Frost, Brown and Todd, spearheaded the revisions to the old bylaws, which she said were very confusing and often poorly worded. Among the issues discussed were the provisions for quorum and whether the bylaws should define the counties that make up our chapter of SPJ. The board has not yet taken any action on the bylaw. In April, the board will consider the changes again and vote whether or not to recommend them to the chapter. Ultimately the chapter will decide via an email vote whether the changes are in the best interest of Cincinnati SPJ.
Additionally, President Hagit Limor reported that the chapter now has 105 members.
