Jerry Springer: On Journalism, On The Record

If you’ve been in Cincinnati long enough, you know a different Jerry Springer. However, if you’re relatively new, your impression might be different. And for many, regardless of how long they have lived in Cincinnati, their feelings likely changed — one way or another — in the last 10 years. Whatever way you remember the former mayor, commentator and award-winning news anchor and talk show host, he is back in Cincinnati. An exploratory bid at the U.S. Senate last fall led to a talk show on Cincinnati’s new liberal talk radio station, WCKY. And he’s taken up residence in the city with plans to maybe run again, this time for Ohio governor.

Come hear Jerry Springer discuss journalism and his future plans, plus he will answer your questions. Join SPJ for an afternoon at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse for great food and an enlightening conversation with a one of today’s controversial personalities. All comments are on the record.

Luncheon is 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 24 at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse, 925 Eastern Ave., near downtown. Cost of $20 per person. Includes lunch. Advance registration is required. Register and pay online at www.cincyspj.org.

Local media professionals sought to join presenter database

SPJ is looking to better educate the public about journalism. To do so, the Cincinnati chapter is starting a speakers bureau. If you're a professional journalist - freelance or working for a media company - join the SPJ community speakers bureau. SPJ hopes to offer speakers from several different backgrounds.

To learn more about the program or to request a speaker, please visit this Web page: http://www.cincyspj.org/speakers.htm

JOURNALISTS: If you're interested in becoming an SPJ speaker, please visit this Web page: http://www.cincyspj.org/speakerjoin.htm. You do not need to be a member of SPJ to participate. Once approved by the SPJ Board, speakers booked through the speakers bureau will be entitled to a $.35 per mile reimbursement for travel (up to 100 miles).
