He also did some sports commentator work on television for both WCPO-TV and WLW-TV. Harmon has served on the selection boards of the Pro Football (for 22 years) and Baseball (for 38 years) Halls of Fame, not to mention similar service for the horse racing, auto racing, boxing and golf halls of fame.

Pulfer last year was honored by three of the country's most prestigious news organizations. A collection of her work was given top honors by Gannett in competition among columnists in the chain's 91 newspapers. Ohio's Associated Press awarded her first place for a column she wrote about the murder of a child in Dayton. She was also named Best Columnist in Ohio by the state's Society of Professional Journalists.

Editor and publisher of Cincinnati Magazine (which won numerous journalism awards under her leadership) for 15 years before joining The Enquirer, she is a regular commentator for National Public Radio's Morning Edition. Her work has been published in national magazines, such as Reader's Digest, and her column for Gannett News Service appears regularly in newspapers all over the country.
