| Message from the President:
Welcome to the Cincinnati Society of Professional Journalists new and improved web site. Now that you're here, we hope you take note of our upcoming programs. We'll be updating these regularly and would love to see you.
We're a group of journalists and other professionals with interest in promoting a climate in which journalism can be practiced freely and
fully, with high standards and ethical behavior.
We also like to have fun. We have several parties on tap in addition to our programs for professional development, and our Gen-J 20-somethings have their own additional programming.
We hope you'll consider joining our ranks. Besides our programs, you'll tap into national resources, meet and network with other professionals, and it looks good on your resume to boot.
Feel free to email me any time at jpilcher@fuse.net

Student Union
Ballroom,
Northern Kentucky University
Join Princeton
University economics professor Dr. Sam Schulhofer-Wohl
and a panel of experts to discuss his research article,
“Do Newspapers matter?” Dr. Schulhofer-Wohl and co-author

- “Washington
from a Different Angle” with Katty Kay Thurs.
March
11, 2010 7:30 pm
Millennium Hotel, downtown Cincinnati
From her position as the Washington-based correspondent
for BBC News and anchor on the BBC's international network,
BBC World, Katty Kay offers a unique perspective on American
politics. America’s attempts to "go it alone" on
major global issues in recent years has cost the country
credibility internationally. Yet in future efforts at
fighting terrorism, stabilizing Middle East policy or
tackling global warming, the U.S. truly needs its allies.
She looks at the Obama Administration and Congress through
the lens of a seasoned journalist with global credentials.
Her comments and observations reveal an international
perspective on the most important stories of the day
- giving audiences an unparalleled sense of the global
reaction to American policy. Her charm and wit are the
perfect complement to the keen insights she provides
- on the President, Congress, the State Department, the
Pentagon, the 2010 midterm elections and much more. Cost
is $25 for the speech, and $125 for the speech and speaker’s
reception. Call (513) 751-0100 or e-mail wcc@womanscityclub.org
for ticket information.
- WANTED: musically inclined journalists
and PR/marketing people for GC SPJ holiday fundraiser!
GC SPJ is considering a Battle of the Bands event for our
annual holiday party this year and we're searching for
journalists and PR/marketing people who'd like rock out
for a good cause. Instead of our usual mix-and-mingle cocktail
hour in December, we basically want to have a musical talent
show made up of nothing but you fabulous media and communications
folks! The BotB event would double as a fundraiser for
our college scholarship fund, since we aren't having a
silent auction at this year's awards banquet. So what do
you say? Do you play guitar? Sing? Rap? Consider gracing
our little event with your talents! If you have any questions,
comments, or talent to suggest, contact me at aiesha_little@yahoo.com
